Rants: Are we our own masters?
No one is their own Master. It's an illusion that
feeds our arrogant egos.
Whether or not we care to admit it, like it or even can *see* it (not everyone
has the brutal logic, common sense and real honesty to look at the world & their
life and judge the truth for themselves) we are all following 'masters'. The
world; that is self, worldliness, material things, self quest-finding and
ultimately satan is one master. Lord God Almighty is the only alternative, and
none other has claimed to be an alternative and stood the tests of His claim.
There is one master who claims to give this life to it's fullest, and also to
give eternal life with Him and all that is good and right. The world tells us it
knows what will make us happy; and yet we see sex icons, pop stars and rich
millionaires ending it all almost daily these days because the world, quite
frankly - lied. We have far from got it all together; almost every glossy shelf
publication nowadays is packed to the gills with articles on 'how to better your
sex life' or '101 hot dating tips' or even 'get the best @$$ in the world!' If
we have material life so happy and sorted out, why are we all so constantly
desperate to improve and be something we are not? Why pretend to be satisfied
when our behaviour tells another story altogether?
The Bible speaks of avoiding amassing worldly things, gains and possessions,
rank and privileges for good reason. They all amount to exactly squat all and we
cannot take a single cent with us. When we breath our last, everything outside
of Christ means nothing, to us.
We don't know where we're going, where we're heading; like the Bible tells us
we're all on a broad pathway which many find and which heads ultimately to
destruction - not just in this life but in the next.
But there is another way. The Bible explains that few will even *find* it, let
alone decide to *walk* it. Is this fair? Yes it is, for the means to get to it
*is* available to all people. But most don't like and won't take the wander off
their wide road to destruction to check out the narrow pathway; they are
happy(ish) where they are, why change? After all; narrow seems harder visually
than broad.
Sadly, satan's talent for lying, deception and keeping people from ever
seriously questioning his way of the world/self keeps them to even wanting to
leave their pathway. Often people leave it and examine the narrow pathway,
finding reasons not to walk it or worse still, decided they will or might walk
it ... but later in life. What evil is this! The prince of lies still has
millions thinking today that they have the chance to decide to walk the narrow
pathway whenever they want to or 'when they're ready'.
You will *never* fully be ready, satan will see to that because his entire
reason for being alive nowadays (after his fall) is solely to make sure YOU
share HIS judgement - Hell. He's a champion at duping even the spiritual and
smart, sincere person, because he's got a track record of doing it since Eve and
the fruit in the garden of Eden. Don't think you can play on his pitch - he is
the dirtiest player in the game. He would *love* you to believe that you're
smart enough to see him coming, that way he doesn't even have to beat you,
you've already defeated yourself. Vanity; a deadly sin.
Besides, Jesus didn't come to save the 'ready', the 'sorted' or
the 'fulfilled'; he came for the broken, the needy, the seeker, the honest man
who knows he is a sinner. So don't try to clean yourself, because
only one payment in full will ever sort you and cleanse you - the blood of the
perfectly innocent and all-powerful Son of God.
You also shouldn't allow him to trick you into thinking 'I'll do it when
I'm a little older, wiser and more learned in the walk of life'. For all
you know, today could be your last day, or week, or year. It's not often
preached this way, but as a film I once saw, the students are hearing from a
speaker of their own age group that no one ever associates death with today or
tomorrow, it is always something that is far, far away.
Some people even succeed in deluding themselves
of their invincibility and that they will die old, or not at all (even though
they know scientifically they must die some day). Some people seriously convince
themselves of the irrational notion that for them there will be no end. This is
the depth of confusion and arrogance that satan can bring to cloud the mind from
the truth - that we must DO with an eternal God some day, and today is that day.
NOW is the day of salvation.
In an sense though, we are eternal beings so the feeling or thought that you
will 'last forever' in a sense, is very real and true. No one will ever
pass away, spirits cannot die. It's where you want to spend eternity
that is on question, not *if* you will spend it. But this mortal life will have
an end for us all (unless Jesus returns first). We all must choose life or
choose death. Living with God or living without Him, and our
choice NOW will be what we are given for all eternity.
Those who choose life/God now, will be with Him for ever. Those who reject Him and choose death will have their choice too, and will forever be separated from everything good, wholesome, just, right and from God. This includes all good music of any form or sort, anything pleasurable or enjoyable...are you getting it yet? Hell ain't cool, it's not going to be a sin party. Sin will be over when you arrive. It is simply too terrible to explain what Hell will be like. The main part will be simply knowing what could have been, should have been - for ever and ever without end, ever. And all during this, also knowing that you will never see or hear, or receive any sort of lifeline from God, ever.
